                            MEETINGS: MOVED TO 7:30PM

THE 2ND WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH (Sept.-April)

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Finally the snow we’ve all been waiting for is here in abundance.  The forecast is calling for more significant snowfall at the beginning of the week.  Patience is a virtue……and much needed with the weather in Vermont.

The snow came a little later than we had wished for, however it didn’t matter for the Make A Wish event hosted by the Central VT Snowmobilers.  The involved clubs; Barre Sno Bees, Barre Town Thunderchickens, Billtown Moonshiners, and Middle Valley Polar Bears were able to hold a successful event.  After Larry Hebert of Hebert Excavating donated his equipment and employees, the brown soccer field in Williamstown was turned into a winter wonderland with fresh snow trucked in!  Thanks to Paul “Cookie” Plante, Ron Plante, and Greg Rouleau who helped work the event.  Also thanks to Dave Thomas and Champlain Farms for all the concession donations.

This event has been a huge event for the snowmobiling community over the past 7 years.  This year a check will be presented to VT Make A Wish for $11,500.  Please look for a complete report coming out in the World and this month's VAST News.

As promised, we will keep you posted throughout the season on where we’re at with donations.  We now have $32,045 in an account towards the future purchase of our groomer.  This includes $10,000 that was transferred to the account from our general fund last spring.  I’d like to again thank everyone who has been so generous in their donations towards the fund raising effort to purchase our own groomer.  You can still make donations online at the following address: http://www.snobees.com/donations.htmlOur goal is to get enough donations to fund the Beehive, and to start adding to our fund to purchase our groomer in 2006.  We still have a ways to go to reach our $55,000 goal.

We need $8,000 per year to fund the Beehive.  So far this year we have received $3,555 towards the Beehive Fund in donations.  I’d like to thank Mark Gherardi for another donation and Mike & Johanne Leclerc for their recent donation to keep the beehive going.  They made their donation in honor of Pvt2 Jason Leclerc, 4th Infantry Division, and all the men and women (past and present) of our armed forces.  Thank you for reminding all of us why we enjoy freedom!

The Texas Hold’m Tournament scheduled for March 12, 2005 will be moved to a new date.  This is because the riding is to good right now and will be gone before you know it.  We will move the event, hopefully to a date in April when riding is over.  Look for the date in the next newsletter and for advertisement in the local newspapers.

In closing I’d like to announce this will be my last year as President.  I have a new little girl at home and want to enjoy my time with her.  I have enjoyed serving as President and have tried to serve you well.  Right now the President position is open as our Vice President is stepping down to spend more time with his new family.  If you are interested in serving this wonderful volunteer organization, I encourage you to attend our next meeting at the Hilltop.  This club is very strong and supportive of each other, and although I am stepping down as President I will remain active in club activities.  If you have any interest in becoming more involved please feel free to contact me via email at btewksbury@msn.com.  Thank You and enjoy the rest of the riding season.

Sincerely,

Brent Tewksbury
President
