                            MEETINGS: MOVED TO 7:30PM

THE 2ND WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH (Sept.-April)

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I can’t believe a few short weeks ago we were still riding, and now it’s time to get the golf clubs out and rake the lawns. The snow went very fast, although sad, this sometimes is a good thing for the trails, as it doesn’t allow late season riding on thin snow cover, which damages property.

Just a reminder to all the trail trustees, it is now time to take down your signs, fences, and close any gates that haven’t been already. Once again we will be handing out VT Maple Syrup to our landowners. I hope to have this syrup available at Wednesday’s meeting. So if you are a trustee, please come to the meeting so you can pick up your syrup and thank you letters for the landowners. I’d like to try and get this done as early as possible.

As many of you have heard, Ron Plante, our trails coordinator, was involved in an unfortunate snowmachine accident. Word from his family is that he is doing well, and is on the road to recovery. Many thanks to all, whom have been so concerned for Ron and his family. We look forward to his return.

The Central VT Snowmobile Make A Wish Charity event has recently been adopted by VAST as a statewide event. We recently presented the idea at a full board meeting and it was voted on and will continue. The reason we went this route is that the volunteers were starting to get burned out, and local resources are continuously "hit" for donations. We felt it was time that the event was brought to a new level. The future plans are to early to discuss, but it should be bigger than ever. Thanks to the board for adopting this worthwhile event.

In last month’s newsletter, I announced that this would be my last year as President and that elections would be held at the April meeting, to fill positions. The positions that need to be filled are President, Vice President, and Trail Master. I believe there are interested parties for all three positions, but if you are interested and would like to step up and volunteer, please give Adam Martin (476-7618) or myself a call (476-9960), even if you’d like to start out as a director to see how things work. We’d love for new faces to get actively involved.

On that note, I Thank You for allowing me to be your President for the past three years, it has been a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone that sent me emails recently, it’s appreciated. I look forward to continue working on trails and helping out on special events. I hope to see you at our final meeting of the year. Have a safe and happy summer.
